Filmmaker Karan Johar has announced that he will be making a film based on the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre which will be directed by first-time director Karan Singh Tyagi. The director and producer took to his social media accounts to make the announcement. “This film unravels the legendary courtroom battle that Sankaran Nair fought against the British Raj to uncover the truth about the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre. Sankaran Nair’s bravery ignited the freedom struggle across the country and is a testament to the power of fighting for the truth. The film is inspired from real life events and adapted from the book ‘The Case That Shook The Empire’ written by Raghu Palat (great grandson of Sankaran Nair) and his wife, Pushpa Palat,” KJo said in the statement.
Johar has been extremely erratic on social media ever since Bollywood was attacked following the tragic death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Many took to blaming Johar for allegedly fostering an environment which only favoured so-called “star kids” and which harmed those out of the clique like Sushant Singh Rajput. The filmmaker was also recently in the news following Kartik Aaryan’s eviction from Dostana 2. It was rumoured that Aaryan had been removed for unprofessionalism.
