After a long and arduous international break, Fantasy Premier League returns on matchday 31 to kickstart the business end of the season. With eight gameweeks to go, there is plenty of time left in the campaign to improve your rank and here are our Premier League fantasy football picks for gameweek 31.
GK: Nick Pope (BUR) – £5.4m
With Burnley playing two fixtures in gameweek 31, Nick Pope should be the number one priority for those managers looking to transfer in a goalkeeper into their team. Pope has already registered two double-digit scores in double-gameweeks this season and could be amongst the points again this weekend, with Burnley taking on the struggling Everton at home.
DEF: Joao Cancelo (MCI) – £6.9m
Joao Cancelo has registered a combined 18 points in Manchester City’s last two away trips in the Premier League, and the Portuguese full-back has nine attacking returns this season, the most amongst Manchester City defenders.
DEF: Matt Doherty (TOT) – £4.7m
Matt Doherty has enjoyed an excellent run of form for Tottenham under Antonio Conte over the past few weeks, registering 41 points in his last five starts, and is a brilliant budget option in defence ahead of their home meeting against Newcastle United.
DEF: Andrew Robertson (ARS) – £7.3m
With Trent Alexander-Arnold injured, Andrew Robertson is the go-to Liverpool asset in defence for fantasy premier league managers ahead of gameweek 31, with the Scotsman amassing 73 points in his last eight starts for the Reds.
MID: Raphinha (LEE) – £6.5m
Raphinha has been the best performer for Leeds United since Jesse Marsch’s arrival, creating seven chances and taking six shots in the box in the four games under the American. The Brazilian has eight goal involvements for Leeds at home this season and takes on a Southampton side in gameweek 31 that have conceded twice in 11 of their 14 away trips.
MID: Phil Foden (MCI) – £7.8m
Phil Foden has started each of Manchester City’s last eight fixtures in the Premier League, and the Englishman has scored a team-leading six goals away from home this season.
MID: Bukayo Saka (ARS) – £6.8m
Bukayo Saka has emerged as the star man for Arsenal this season and has managed five goals and an assist in his last five starts away from home in the Premier League, registering 49 points in that period.
MID: Mohamed Salah (LIV) – £13.3m
Despite the possibility of a benching over the weekend, Mohamed Salah is a must-have asset for FPL managers ahead of Liverpool’s encounter against Watford at home. Salah has an excellent record against the Hornets in the Premier League and has managed 31 points in his last three appearances at home.
FWD: Kai Havertz (CHE) – £7.9m
One differential pick for gameweek 31 is Kai Havertz, who has five goals and assists in his last three league appearances for Chelsea and is owned by just 7.1% of all FPL managers.
FWD: Harry Kane (TOT) – £12.5m
Harry Kane is the in-form man in the EPL at the moment, with the Englishman registering seven goals and four assists in his last seven appearances for Tottenham.
FWD: Wout Weghorst (ARS) – £6.4m
The second striker option in our team for this gameweek is Burnley’s forward Wout Weghorst. Although the Dutchman has struggled since his January move, Burnley are one of two teams with two fixtures in game-week 31, and Weghorst has taken a team-leading 10 shots in the box since his debut.
Although Harry Kane has had an incredible run for Tottenham since gameweek 26, the armband goes to Mohamed Salah in gameweek 31. The Egyptian has averaged 11.7 points per game against Watford in FPL and is the highest points scoring player in the game this season.
