After the first round of mid-week fixtures in the Premier League, the games are coming thick and fast ahead of the FIFA World Cup, and these are the biggest talking points in the world of FPL.

Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 13 Preview – Best Team & Captain

Transfer Tip

Leandro Trossard (6.9m) to Bukayo Saka (7.9m)

FPL managers flocked towards Leandro Trossard in GW12, only for the Belgian to play as a left-wing back against Nottingham Forest at home and score just three points, despite taking four shots and creating two chances.

After that disappointment, Trossard has already been sold by 250,000 managers as Brighton take on Manchester City and Chelsea in their next two games. The best replacement midfielder for Leandro Trossard is Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka, who offers some of the best value in the game at 7.9 million. Saka has four goals and two assists in his last six league appearances and is also on penalties for Arsenal. The Gunners also have an incredibly favourable run of fixtures before the World Cup, with games against Southampton, Nottingham Forest, and Wolves in their next three.

Player Watchlist

Marcus Rashford (6.6m)

With Antony Martial injured and Cristiano Ronaldo ostracized from the club, Manchester United’s starting striker for the next four Premier League games before the World Cup will be Marcus Rashford. The Englishman is listed as a midfielder in FPL at an attractive price of 6.6 million and could be one of the best differentials in the game before the season pauses for the World Cup.

Rashford has been scoreless in United’s last four appearances, but the forward put up some impressive attacking numbers in their last home game against Tottenham and has a nice run of fixtures over the next four, with ties against Villa, Fulham, and West Ham.

There’s a clear-cut captaincy option in GW13 in FPL, with Erling Haaland as the standout favourite for the armband.

Haaland has scored ten goals in his last four league appearances at home and also has the best underlying numbers, with a non-penalty xGi of 1.08 per 90. Mohamed Salah, Gabriel Jesus, or even Darwin Nunez are viable differentials given their numbers and fixture, but at this stage of the season, it would be foolish to bet against the best striker we have seen in the Premier League this decade.

Shivaan’s FPL Team Selection for GW13: Leandro Trossard and Dominic Solanke to Phil Foden and Gabriel Jesus, Haaland Captain

Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 13

After a strong couple of weeks in FPL that saw my rank halve to 326k, I will take my first -4 this season in GW13 and make an extra transfer. The first transfer is removing Dominic Solanke in favour of Gabriel Jesus. I have nearly 4.5 million in my bank to make this move, and the Arsenal frontman is an excellent option till the end of the season with games against Southampton, Nottingham Forest, and Wolves in the next four.

My second transfer is shifting on Leandro Trossard for Phil Foden. Earlier in this piece, I suggested Bukayo Saka as the ideal replacement for Trossard. However, for my team set-up, with two of the Arsenal frontline already in the squad, it made more sense to diversify the risk and get Phil Foden instead, who also has an excellent run of games on the horizon. Manchester City play Brighton, Fulham, and Brentford at home before the World Cup, and Foden has been involved in five goals in his last two starts at the Etihad stadium.

As for the captaincy, there is no other option other than Erling Haaland in Fantasy Premier League at the moment. Best of luck for FPL Gameweek 13!
