Our surprise package for week 4 of the Indian Premier League has to be Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who rolled back the years this week against the Mumbai Indians to give the Chennai Super Kings their second win of the season. It’s been a rough couple of years with the bat in hand for MS Dhoni in the IPL, but the Chennai Super Kings legend provided another reminder that he is still the greatest finisher of all time with his game-changing cameo at the DY Patil Stadium.

Playing against arch-rivals Mumbai Indians, MS Dhoni once again managed to pull off a miracle in the run chase as he smashed an unbelievable 28 runs off 13 balls to take the Yellow Army over the line. Dhoni arrived at the crease with Chennai in a tricky position at 102 for five in 15 overs after the loss of a few quick wickets, and the wicket-keeper steadied the ship alongside Dwaine Pretorius to keep the chase alive. In typical MSD fashion, he took the game deep to the final over before going after the left-armer Jaydev Unadkat and smashing the 16 runs needed off the last four balls of the game.
Dhoni creamed a vintage six down the ground off an overpitched delivery from Unadkat before squeezing out a yorker for a boundary behind square to win the game for CSK off the final ball of the game. Even at age 40, MSD continues to win games for CSK, and if he is still batting like this, there is no reason why he shouldn’t extend his career and give the fans a few more years of him playing in yellow.
