The 2022 T20 World Cup did not fail to disappoint. Although the rain played a dampener on some of the Super 12 matches, the tournament was a roaring success with plenty of drama, upsets, last-over finishes and spectacular innings. Batters didn’t always have it easy in Australia this winter with the ball moving around corners, but there were plenty of outrageous innings in the tournament from the likes of Jos Buttler, Virat Kohli, and Rilee Roussow.

Alex Hales blew team India away in the semi-finals of the 2022 T20 World Cup at Adelaide as he blasted his way to an unbeaten 86 off just 47 in the run chase. Hales tore into every single Indian bowler, smashing seven sixes in his knock as he shared a T20 World Cup record 170-run partnership with Jos Buttler to take England home with ten wickets and 24 balls to spare.

4. Ben Stokes – 51* off 49 vs Pakistan (MCG)

There were plenty of other more spectacular innings at this T20 World Cup, but arguably none were as important as Ben Stokes’ priceless half-century versus Pakistan in the final. Stokes came into bat with England in a tricky situation in the powerplay against a world-class Pakistani bowling attack and the all-rounder weathered the storm before taking the side to their second T20 World Cup title with his maiden T20I half-century.

3. Suryakumar Yadav – 61* off 25 vs Zimbabwe (MCG)

Suryakumar Yadav was the standout batter at the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia, and the Indian number four played one of the most extraordinary knocks of the tournament against Zimbabwe at the MCG. Yadav smashed six fours and four sixes in just 25 deliveries and continued to pepper the fine-leg region behind square with his ingenious scoop shots.

2. Glenn Phillips – 104 off 64 vs Sri Lanka (SCG)

Glenn Phillips announced his arrival on the global stage at the 2022 T20 World Cup with his phenomenal century against Sri Lanka at the SCG. While the rest of the Kiwi batters failed to find any fluency on a tricky surface against two world-class spinners, Phillips showcased his class. The number four took his time to adjust to the pitch – managing just 37 runs off his first 31 deliveries – before exploding at the death to score his maiden T20I century and take the Blackcaps to a formidable total of 167.

1. Virat Kohli – 82* off 53 vs Pakistan (MCG)

At number one, it has to be Virat Kohli for his unbelievable innings against Pakistan in India’s opening encounter at the MCG. Kohli single-handedly rescued India from the brink of defeat against their arch-rivals in the 2022 T20 World Cup. The number three took on Pakistani pacers Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf in sensational fashion, helping India score 48 runs off the final three overs and steal victory from the jaws of defeat.
